Hardware

What You Need

SimplyTalk is not a lightweight browser tool. It runs state-of-the-art neural speech models locally, which means it benefits from modern hardware.

Operating System
Windows 11 (required). SimplyTalk is built and tested exclusively for Windows 11. Windows 10 is not officially supported.
Processor (CPU)
Modern multi-core CPU required. Intel 10th Gen or newer, or AMD Ryzen 3000 series or newer. The Moonshine engine runs on CPU alone.
Memory (RAM)
8 GB minimum. 16 GB recommended. The AI models load into memory during operation. More RAM ensures smooth multitasking alongside dictation.
Graphics (GPU)
NVIDIA GPU recommended for real-time RNNT streaming. CUDA-capable cards (GTX 1060+ or RTX series) enable the Parakeet engine. CPU-only mode works without a GPU.
Disk Space
~500 MB for the full installation including bundled AI models. An SSD is recommended for faster model loading at startup.
Microphone
Any standard microphone works. Built-in laptop mics, USB headsets, and professional microphones are all compatible. A dedicated mic in a quiet environment produces the best accuracy.
