Privacy Policy

Overview

SimplyTalk is designed with privacy at its core. All speech-to-text processing happens locally on your computer. We do not collect, transmit, or store your voice data, transcriptions, or usage patterns.

What We Do Not Collect

  • Audio recordings or voice data
  • Transcribed text or dictation content
  • Keystrokes or text injection output
  • Screen content or application data
  • Usage analytics (stored locally only)

What We Do Collect

The only data transmitted to our servers is during license activation:

  • License key: Your STLK-format key is sent to verify validity.
  • Machine identifier: A hashed hardware ID is used to bind your license to your device. This is a one-way hash and cannot be reversed to identify your hardware.

This data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored securely. No other data is collected at any time.

Local Data Storage

SimplyTalk stores the following files locally on your device:

  • config.json: Your settings preferences (audio device, hotkey, output mode).
  • usage_stats.json: Local usage metrics (word count, dictation count, time saved). This data never leaves your computer.
  • .license: Trial start date and license activation status.

Third-Party Services

SimplyTalk uses Stripe for payment processing. When you purchase a license, Stripe handles your payment information according to their own Privacy Policy. We never see or store your credit card details.

Website Analytics

The SimplyTalk website (simplytalk.app) may use standard analytics tools to measure traffic. The desktop application does not include any analytics or tracking.

Children's Privacy

SimplyTalk is not directed at individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
