I Built This for Myself.
Then I Built a Way to Pay You.

SimplyTalk started as a tool I needed. When other professionals wanted it, I built an affiliate program that puts real money back in the hands of the people who share it.

SimplyTalk did not start as a product. It started as something I needed.

I spend my days at a law firm working across marketing, application development, and systems integration. After hours and on weekends, I run my own software business. Both roles generate a constant stream of text output: emails, documentation, client notes, project briefs, code comments, support responses. All of it typed by hand, all of it eating time I could not afford to waste.

So I tried the obvious solutions. Cloud dictation tools wanted my voice on their servers. As someone who works in an environment where client confidentiality is non-negotiable, that was an immediate disqualifier. Built-in OS dictation was unreliable and slow. The "private" alternatives I found were either abandoned or required so much configuration that I lost the productivity I was trying to gain.

So I built my own. Hold a hotkey. Speak. Release. Text appears wherever the cursor is. No cloud. No account. No subscription. Everything runs locally on my machine using NVIDIA Parakeet and Moonshine AI models.

I used it privately for months. It changed how I worked.

The Moment Other People Wanted It

I showed SimplyTalk to a colleague at the firm. Then to a friend who practices law in another state. Then to a developer I know who handles client code that legally cannot leave their workstation. Then to a physician who dictates clinical notes between patients.

The response was always the same. "Where do I buy this?"

I was not planning to launch a product. I was an engineer who had built something to solve his own problem. But the requests kept coming, and they came from people whose work also depended on privacy, speed, and tools that respected their time. The pattern was obvious. Privacy-conscious professionals were tired of the trade-off: use modern AI tools and hand over your data, or protect your data and go without.

So I polished it, built the licensing infrastructure, set up the support systems, and shipped it. $289, one-time purchase, yours forever.

Why I Decided to Share the Revenue

Once SimplyTalk was live, the next question was growth. And I had a choice to make.

I could have spent that money on ads. Run Google campaigns, buy placements, pay for impressions. That is what most software companies do, and most of that budget goes to platforms that are already capturing more than their share of the value chain.

Or I could take that same money and put it in the hands of the people who actually use the product. The ones recommending it to colleagues, writing about it, sharing it in professional communities. The people whose endorsement carries weight because it comes from experience, not from a banner ad.

That was not a difficult decision.

What I Built for Affiliates

When I sat down to design the SimplyTalk affiliate program, the first thing I committed to was that it had to involve real money. Not 2%. Not "store credit." Not a referral discount. Real money, paid in cash, on every sale.

Here is what the program looks like:

  • 25% commission on every sale. That is $72.25 on every $289 purchase. No tier system to climb. No volume requirements. Your first sale pays the same rate as your hundredth.
  • 10% network commission. Refer other affiliates into the program and earn 10% on every sale they generate. Their work becomes a passive revenue stream for you while they still earn their full 25%.
  • 90-day cookie window. Most affiliate programs give you 24 hours, maybe seven days. I give you three months. If someone clicks your link today and buys twelve weeks from now, you still get paid.
  • Monthly payouts with no minimum threshold. Earn a dollar, get a dollar. Earn ten thousand, get ten thousand. PayPal or bank transfer, your choice.
  • A real-time dashboard. Track every click, every conversion, every dollar as it happens. See your direct sales, your network's sales, and your cumulative earnings. Full transparency.
  • Marketing tools built in. Your portal includes shareable links, QR codes, banner ads, social media assets, and a promo code you can hand to your audience. I built the tools so you can focus on sharing, not on production.

The Network Effect: Why This Compounds

The 10% network bonus is the part that makes this program structurally different from most affiliate arrangements.

As an individual, you earn on every sale you drive directly. Predictable and straightforward.

But if you bring three other affiliates into the program, say a colleague who writes a newsletter, a friend who runs a YouTube channel, and a consultant who recommends tools to their clients, you earn 10% on every sale those three generate. Their effort becomes passive income for you, and they keep their full 25%. Nobody loses. Everyone earns.

Now imagine those three affiliates each bring in a few more. The math compounds without requiring additional effort from you after the initial introduction.

What This Looks Like in Real Numbers

Here is a straightforward scenario:

You generate 10 direct sales in a month. At $72.25 per sale, that is $722.50 in direct commissions.

You have invited 5 affiliates into your network. Between them, they generate 30 sales. At 10% network commission ($28.90 per sale), that is $867.00 in network commissions that arrive without you making a single additional sale yourself.

Monthly total: $1,589.50. Annualized, that is over $19,000 from a combination of your own referrals and a modest affiliate network.

Scale any of those numbers and the math keeps working. Twenty direct sales and ten active affiliates puts you well above $3,000 per month. The dashboard shows every dollar in real time so you always know exactly where your income stands.

Who This Is For

The program is built for people who already use SimplyTalk and believe in what it does. That is the only qualification. You need a valid license key to activate payouts, because I want the program filled with people who have actually used the product and can recommend it from experience.

In practice, the strongest affiliates tend to be:

  • Professionals who recommend tools to colleagues. Attorneys, physicians, executives, consultants. If you work in an environment where privacy matters and you already use SimplyTalk, every recommendation you make is a natural fit.
  • Tech content creators. Bloggers, YouTubers, podcasters, newsletter writers who cover productivity, privacy, or professional tools. A 90-day cookie means your audience has time to evaluate and you still earn when they convert.
  • Community leaders. People who run professional groups, Slack channels, Discord servers, or forums where tool recommendations carry weight.

Why I Did Not Take the VC Route

There was a version of this story where I raised money, hired a sales team, bought ads, and optimized for monthly recurring revenue. That version would have made the product a subscription, because recurring revenue is what investors want to see on a pitch deck.

I chose the opposite path. One-time purchase, no investors, no recurring charges, and a revenue share that goes to the people who help the product grow instead of to a cap table.

That decision means SimplyTalk grows at the pace of its users, not at the pace of a fundraising timeline. It means every dollar of affiliate commission is funded by actual sales, not by investor subsidy. And it means the people who do the work of sharing and recommending the product are the ones who benefit financially from its success.

In the tech industry, users have generated trillions of dollars of value for platforms that never shared a cent of it back. Your data trained their models. Your attention sold their ads. Your content built their network effects. And the payout to users was exactly zero.

I wanted to do it differently. Not because I am trying to fix the entire industry. I am one person building desktop software. But because, at the scale I operate at, I can choose to share the revenue with the people who earn it. So I did.

The Offer

If you already use SimplyTalk and you believe it solves a real problem, the affiliate program is the easiest way to turn that belief into income.

You promote. I handle the engineering, the support, the payments, the licensing infrastructure, all of it. The revenue gets split. Twenty-five cents of every dollar goes to you. Another ten cents goes to you from your network's sales.

Signing up is free. The portal gives you your link, your tracking dashboard, your marketing tools, and your promo code. Enter your license key and you are active.

I built SimplyTalk because I needed it. I built the affiliate program because the people helping it grow deserve to share in what they are building.
